Tye Trondson (she/her) interweaves dance, video, and installations, blending theatrical finesse with intimate improvisation, crafting surreal, discomforting, and vulnerable experiences.

Hand-selected by the Wisconsin Union Directorate Performing Arts Committee, Tye co-directed and performed alongside four interdisciplinary artists in Negentropy (2022). Culminating in a forty-five-minute improvised showcase, Negentropy “was the perfect mix of individuality, unity and community,” (MODA Magazine).

In 2021, Tye received the Buff Brennan Honors Award in Dance, a grant that funded her multimedia dance performance Can of Worms. The screendance ‘Lonely Rave’, one of Can of Worms’ four original works, was awarded the Committee Choice Award by the Wisconsin Union Directorate Art’s Committee. ‘Lonely Rave’ and Tye’s documentary ‘Boogie Shoes’— also a Can of Worms feature— screened at Mills Folly Microcinema in July 2022.

Tye was Assistant Choreographer to director Litza Bixler in the film Bodies, Borders, and Belonging (2021), which was a Wisconsin Film Festival selection in 2022.

Tye has spent meaningful time at workshops including b12, GALLIM, and most recently at the Field Center with Faye Driscoll. She graduated with distinction from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.S. in Dance and English, and a Pilates Teaching certificate.

Tye lives in Brooklyn, NY.
